Morningside

Just down the road from Sandton City, the upmarket suburb of Morningside in Sandton lies along both sides of Rivonia Road in the heart of the northern stretches of Johannesburg and is bounded in the north by the suburb of Rivonia. Despite this, the suburb manages to remain peaceful, quiet and relatively unruffled by the surge of Johannesburg traffic. Morningside is an area rich with a diverse portfolio of small to medium secure town-house complexes and large post-war houses. The suburb is a very popular commercial node with Johannesburg residents and as such, commands relatively high market value prices.

Morningside is very close to the vast Buccleuch Interchange which links the N1, M1 and N3 highways, making easy access to all parts of Gauteng. The suburb is about 30 minutes drive from the Johannesburg International Airport

The affluent suburb of Morningside is a muddle of secure townhouse complexes and lofty office parks, favoured particularly by those working in Johannesburg’s financial district. Morningside is synonymous with the bustling commercial capital of Sandton - dominated by high rise buildings, glass and chrome finishes, world class hotels, the Sandton Convention Centre and Sandton City’s almost 300 shops. Commercial property in this upmarket Johannesburg suburb is similarly lavish with most office parks and commercial blocks being A-grade. Being so close to the Sandton CBD has also bolstered commercial rentals and is a major drawcard to the area. With a popular Virgin Active gym in the area and a number of retail and eatery options, Morningside is an ideal corporate and office hub. Morningside is also close to the Vodacom World of Golf and the Woodmead Golf Driving Range. The suburb is just a few blocks from Rivonia Boulevard, where most top stores are represented.

The Morningside and Sandton Clinics provide essential health care, while Benmore Gardens Shopping Centre, Pick n Pay on Nicol and the top-end boutiques, speciality stores, restaurants and sidewalk cafes of Sandton City and Mandela Square provide all necessary retail services. The Sandton Sports Club in George Lea Park is alongside Parkmore on the corner of Sandton Drive and William Nicol Drive. The Village Walk shopping centre, in Maude Street, offers a quieter alternative to Sandton City, and the coffee bars and restaurants offer a more sedate way to pass an afternoon. Morningside’s own shopping Centre provides a more humble environment in which to shop and have a meal, away from the frenetic hussle of Sandton. Morningside is home to the Morningside Sports Club and the Pavilion Shopping Centre. Situated just a few blocks from Morningside is the Woodmead Commercial Park, which houses a number of well-known consumer outlets in the Woodmead Value Mart and the Woodmead Super Value Centre.
